4.  MATTERS ARISING for information exchange only

Highways to be reminded of a request for hatching to be implemented at the entrance to the Aldi Superstore.

5.  PUBLIC FORUM – monthly event limited to 3 minutes duration maximum per resident relating to public agenda items.

THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED FOR THE PUBLIC FORUM
Cllr. Bishop, as a member of the public, asked a question relating to the financing of the skate park at the Brandon Remembrance Playing Fields. There is to be a youth meeting at The Flowerpot on Thursday 16 September 2010 to discuss the future of the skate park.

6.  TO RECEIVE A REPORT FROM THE POLICE
Crime figures for the month of August were circulated at the meeting. There were 59 recorded crimes within this time period. This equates to a reduction of 7% over the same period last year.

8.  TO RECEIVE REPORTS (if any) from County and /or District Councillors.
Cllr. Bishop reported SABRES is in the process of talking to Government over the future plans for Breckland Middle School.
Cllr. Simmons said Forest Heath District Council was facing a 7 million pound budget gap. Three full time planning staff were leaving at the end of the financial year.
With regard to the marquee located at the rear of The Brandon House Hotel and the shop front signage at BetFred, Cllr. Edwards reported both issues were presently being dealt with by the FHDC Enforcement Officer.
Cllr. Hughes, together with Cllrs. Butcher, Simmons and Le Grys had attended the Forest Heath District Council Area Meeting. Key points raised included budget cuts; proposed Planning Explorer seminars; Democratic & Localism Act due to be passed in the autumn. Due to the length of time before the matter of speeding near to the entrance to Brandon Country Park is discussed by the Joint Advisory panel, David Burnip agreed to intervene on behalf of the town council.

The meeting was reconvened.

12.  SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION
Forest Heath District Council will be looking into the matter of the speed limit signs at the next
Brandon Country Park Joint Advisory Panel meeting taking place on 17 November 2010.
Cllr. G Hughes reiterated that David Burnip is to pursue this issue on behalf of the town council. 

13.  STREET NAMING AND NUMBERING
As flints for the muskets used at the Battle of Waterloo originated from Brandon, Cllr. T Simmons suggested the following list for future street names be forwarded to the District Council: Waterloo; Flint; Flintlock; Cavalry; Rifleman; Dragoon; Hussar; Sabre; Cannon; Musket.

14.  THETFORD ROAD PLAY AREA

15.  STANDARDS COMMITTEE HEARING

16.  STREET LIGHTING COMMITTEES
The East and West Ward street lighting committees to agree a date and time for the inspections. Reports to be available at the December town council meeting.

17.  PRECEPT CAPPING
